József Árpád Koppay was a Hungarian artist, although he was born in Vienna in Austria; he lived most of his life in Berlin, and died in Bad Gastein in Germany in 1927. He was known primarily as a portrait painter.

His full name was Baron József Árpád Koppay von Drétoma. He became court painter in Munich, later moving to Vienna, working part-time in the USA, and then in 1911 London UK. When the First World War started, Koppay moved to Zurich in Switzerland, returning to Vienna in 1919.
